WHY DO YOU RIDE FOR THE LEVITATION PROJECT?
I'm attracted to cool things with a positive vibe, and that pretty much sums up what the LP is. I'm an honest person so I have a hard time being a representative of products that I don't believe in or want to use, and the LP is anything but. The fact that they are making clothing that is earth friendly recycled gear means I get to work with a company that is trying to make a positive difference on our planet.
WHAT DOES IT MEAN WHEN YOU RIDE FOR THE LEVITATION PROJECT AND HOW IS IT DIFFERENT THAN RIDING FOR OTHER COMPANIES?
Some of the other companies that I ride for are pretty big companies, and sometimes you can lose that personal connection for that very reason. The Levitation Project has a family vibe to it, I feel like everyone in the company is really supportive of the other athletes and myself. The LP is SO pumped on skiing and snowboarding, it just oozes fun times and who doesn't want to be a part of that?! Ultimately, the LP inspires me to work as hard as possible because they are working their butts off and I want to do my part in making the company be successful.
WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE LEVITATION PROJECT PRODUCT?
The base layer shorts. I was skeptical of them when I first saw them (I was so old school apparently), but I'm the biggest fan now! Really, it's hard to get me out of them in the wintertime. They're warm, comfy and much cooler to hang out in after skiing than the typical tight long underwear.
WHAT DOES SKIING MEAN TO YOU?
Eat, breath, live, die, skiing.
WHAT SACRIFICES HAVE YOU MADE TO GET TO WHERE YOU ARE?
This is a hard question to answer because I am beyond satisfied with where I'm at in life. I think that nothing can have a feeling of success without a bit of hard work and sacrifice, without it you wouldn't appreciate what you have as much. Consequently, everything that it took to get to where I'm at was totally worth it and doesn't seem so bad. Like endless hours of waitressing to support myself while I was a ski bum trying to make it or trying to explain to my parents why I'm not using my college degree... I would do it all over again without hesitation. Being a professional skier is a dream job so I consider myself lucky to be able to pursue it!
WORST JOB YOU EVER HAD?
Well, I've never had to pick up poop or breath toxic fumes all day long so I don't think anything I've ever had to do has been that bad, things could always be WAY worse...
WHAT ARE THE WORST INJURIES THAT YOU HAVE HAD TO DATE?
I had an MCL / fractured tibia plateau at the end of the 2007 ski season. Luckily this was the extent of my injury because it happened in a freeride competition in Tignes, France and I had self arrested approximately 5 feet from tumbling over 100 feet of exposure.
WHAT IS YOUR TYPICAL WINTER DAY LIKE?
Wake up before sunrise. Eat a substantial breakfast, drink green tea and stretch. Head to the resort or backcountry. Hike or snowmobile to ski ski ski. I generally don't eat lunch until I'm done skiing, so after skiing I eat a ridiculous amount of food. Do computer work. Catch up with Cody on the phone to see how his day of skiing was, the where and what's going on with him, etc. Make a delicious well-rounded dinner with a glass of wine. Maybe watch a movie if it's not too late or read a book. Go to bed and think about skiing for the next day.
WHAT IS YOUR TYPICAL SUMMER DAY LIKE?
In Santa Cruz: Wake up after sunrise. Read the paper with some green tea and breakfast. Check the surf. Usually get in a few hours of computer work. Surf whether it's decent or not- I'm not that good so it really doesn't matter so much for me. Cruise around Santa Cruz on my cruiser bike with Cody. Either mountain bike, go for a run or head to the gym for a kickboxing aerobics class. Make a killer dinner with Cody with the organic produce we get from our local farmer and fish we caught in Alaska. Watch Top Chef, So You Think You Can Dance (Cody doesn't really follow this one and I'm sure he'd like me to point that out), Project Runway or maybe Entourage. We don't have TV in Tahoe so the summertime is when we catch up on our favorite shows.
Additionally, since Cody and I have the same sweet job and are not tied down to anything in the summer, we like to take advantage of this perk and travel a lot. This past summer we went to Mexico for a surf trip, Alaska for our annual visit my family and fish trip, spent some up in Tahoe, took a road trip through Utah, Montana and Wyoming and will be headed to Hawaii for a 'ski big waves' project for Cody. I can't reiterate enough how lucky I feel to have this life.

WHERE WERE YOU A YEAR AGO?
It's fall now, so I was getting REALLY pumped (literally and figuratively! In the gym getting my legs ready for stomping cliffs...) for the upcoming ski season.

Sitting in front of a computer wishing I was skiing instead.
WHERE ARE YOU GOING TO BE A YEAR FROM NOW?
Hopefully I will be continuing to build upon my success as a professional skier! i.e. lining up ski projects, watching myself in a ski movie at a premiere... basically anything that means I'm getting ready for another ski season.
